Founded in Imola in 1932 as a cooperative specializing in electrical and thermohydraulic systems, CEFLA has evolved into an international multi-business powerhouse. Operating across Civil and Industrial Plant Engineering, Finishing Systems, Medical Equipment, and LED Lighting Solutions, CEFLA employs 1,860 individuals worldwide, with facilities spanning Europe, the United States, the Middle East, India, and China. A common mission unites Cefla's diverse business units: to enhance people's lives.

The Challenge

CEFLA faced significant challenges in managing its human capital across its global operations. As the company experienced rapid growth, the need for a best-of-breed HCM digital solution became increasingly evident. The absence of a comprehensive Human Capital Management (HCM) system hindered the effective supervision of its workforce, particularly in its international branches. Fragmented existing systems impeded the efficient management of basic employee information, organizational structure, and payroll data. Moreover, strategic HCM processes—recruiting, onboarding, and training—required digital enablement to support CEFLA's dynamic and expanding needs.

The imperative was clear: CEFLA needed a centralized HCM solution to unify its HR processes, ensure accurate data management, and support strategic HCM initiatives.

The Approach

To address these challenges, CEFLA chose Talentia HCM as the primary solution and embarked on a digital transformation journey supported by Avvale's team. With over 35 clients in HCM digital transformation projects and a team of experts averaging 12 years of experience, we guided CEFLA through this process, ensuring every specific goal was met with precision and efficiency.

The solution was implemented with a structured and phased approach:

  • Phase 1 focused on implementing the core components of the Core HR and Charter modules. This involved managing all essential employee information, work details, organizational data, and payroll records. A key objective was to design a clearly defined and graphically navigable organizational structure, which would support the security and deployment of the system. This phase, completed in eight months, included integrating current and historical data from both Italian and international branches, integration with ADP, and configuring the system for all managers and corporate users.
  • Phase 2 targeted strategic HCM processes, including recruiting, employee onboarding, and training. Talentia HCM enabled digitally optimized processes for these critical areas, ensuring a smooth and efficient flow from recruitment to employee development. This phase ends with the system’s opening to all employees.
  • Phase 3 will involve the integration of performance management, aligning organizational roles, market benchmarks, and training across CEFLA’s diverse business units. The final goal is to standardize performance metrics and foster a unified organizational culture.

The Impact

The implementation of TALENTIA HCM transformed CEFLA's daily operations, fostering a unified and strategic approach to workforce management. The centralized employee star system has significantly improved data accuracy and accessibility, providing a single source of truth for all employee-related information. The clearly defined organizational charter has enhanced the visibility and management of the company's structure, supporting better decision-making and operational efficiency.

The digital enablement of recruiting, onboarding, and training processes has streamlined these critical functions, reducing execution times and improving overall effectiveness. This transformation aligns with CEFLA's sustainability goals, optimizing resource use and enhancing employee engagement.  CEFLA now benefits from a homogeneous organizational structure, a significant achievement given its geographical diversity. The unified organizational chart represents a shift in mindset, where all HR data is segmented and readily available, supporting a more cohesive and efficient management approach.
