Avvale and Talentia HCM Suite: Empowering Efficiency and Optimization in the Luxury Industry

While they expertly deliver innovation and quality to their customers, Callaway Golf’s previous planning and reporting tool wasn’t making the cut. To evolve their enterprise, the sports giant decided to replace their outdated planning software with SAP Analytics Cloud for planning.

Together with Avvale, Callaway Golf successfully implemented SAP Analytics Cloud across their global enterprise in just 6 months. Now, Callaway Golf has a single, consolidated planning solution that has enabled streamlined expense and asset plans so they can focus on what they do best– revolutionizing the sporting world with cutting edge equipment.

Founded in Tuscany in 2020, the client is a leading player in the luxury industry. It represents the first integrated manufacturing hub in Italy to embrace the entire value chain, from product development to production for the international luxury sector. The group boasts a network of 24 laboratories strategically located across 12 regions in Italy. With a workforce exceeding 3,200 employees, it has established fruitful collaborations with over 70 renowned international brands.

The Challenge

When the project started, the group was comprised of 23 companies with different processes and IT systems, so the management team's priority was to consolidate information and standardize processes across the organization. Aware of the potential for immediate progress, the HR area represented a strategic starting point. By prioritizing HR initiatives, the client aimed to improve efficiency and align practices, laying the foundation for broader integration and optimization throughout the organization. Avvale proved to be the right choice due to its comprehensive understanding of HCM processes and in-depth knowledge of fashion and retail processes specifically related to the company's core business.

The Approach

The customer intended to introduce a new comprehensive HCM system capable of collecting and managing all essential data and processes within the HR department. Avvale suggested the adoption of Talentia HCM Suite, a modular suite capable of handling a complete repository of personal and work-related data and supporting various HR management processes. Talentia is a digitally native, cloud-based Saas software with a process-oriented approach. Together with the customer, Avvale devised a phased implementation strategy to ensure smooth management of personal and labor data, as well as HR processes, while activating appropriate security profiles for employees at all levels of the organization.

Talentia HCM Suite allows for efficient management of employee data and HR processes, promoting the sustainability of the group. The Recruiting module streamlines the recruitment process, ensuring the right talent is matched with job openings. Reporting & Dashboard provides insights for data-driven decision-making, increasing accuracy and fairness. The Training and E-learning module supports skill development, while Performance and Talent modules enable qualitative and quantitative assessments, career path design, and talent management, fostering sustainable workforce development.

The Challenge

Before integrating SAP Analytics Cloud, Callaway Golf's planning landscape centered around SAP's legacy planning solution, Business Planning and Simulation (BPS). While BPS met Callaway Golf's planning needs for many years, the enterprise began to experience limitations with their old solution:

  • Disconnected plans across the board: As Callaway Golf expanded and acquired new brands, planning processes greatly differed across the enterprise with some business units using Excel spreadsheets and others using legacy solutions for planning.
  • Outdated planning functionalities: The existing legacy planning solution lacked many modern functionalities. Among them, salary calculations and asset depreciation automation needed improvement. As a result, it became difficult to create detailed and accurate forecasts across the globe.
  • Significant IT support: The legacy solution required continuous management from IT to maintain runtime. IT had to carve out a full day every week to manually maintain the solution.
  • No single source of truth: Various departments and brands used different data sources, which led to data silos across the organization, making it difficult to gain a clear picture of the enterprise's planned expenses.
  • Rigid user interface: Legacy forecasting system was difficult to navigate and lacked working functions and calculations across the board, such as planning on depreciation and existing assets, adding vendors or members on the fly, and breaking down their cost center expense planning forecasts.

The Approach

With Avvale experts on their side, Callaway Golf laid out the following goals for their new planning landscape with SAP Analytics Cloud:

  • Crowdsource and consolidate plans across the enterprise to gain a global overview of their planned expenses and expand the input capabilities to each responsible owner.
  • Leverage elevated planning functionalities to create faster and more accurate forecast cost center expense and asset reports. The ability to customize calculations enhances and automates the reporting metrics.
  • Harness the power of self-service analytics to alleviate IT from the burden of simple maintenance and data entry requests, so they can focus on high-ROI tasks.
  • Maximize user-driven admin capabilities to control the management of calculations and forms.
  • Create new KPls driven by the business needs.

When SEM-BPS was the center of Callaway Golf's planning landscape, flexibility was a huge factor that was missing. Talentia HCM provides the client with collaborative, centralized, and up-to-date storage for employee information and organizational data, ensuring seamless access and auditability.
In terms of recruitment, our solution empowers the group to conduct a thorough analysis of position requirements within the organizational context. This enables them to define the ideal candidate's profile, considering specific and selected criteria, along with indicative employment conditions.
The client easily configures training courses delivered in different formats, including classroom training, online modules, or social learning. Moreover, Talentia HCM provides a clear picture of the employee's satisfaction level, promotes active interaction, facilitates well-planned development activities, and ensures overall well-being and involvement within the organization.
